Suzlon’s One Earth gets LEED Platinum certificate

Suzlons new corporate headquarter One Earth in Pune, which is completely powered by renewable energy, has got LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environment Design) Platinum certificate. The new campus of the world’s third-largest and India’s largest wind turbine manufacturer covers 41,000 sq mt (10.13 acres) and can accommodate up to 2,300 people.

Tulsi Tanti, chairman of Suzlon Group, said on the ocacsion, “This award underlines Suzlon’s commitment to sustainability. I believe that ‘One Earth’ – named as a tribute to Earth’s unique existence as a self-replenishing eco-system – will be inspiration and proof to others that it is possible, if we are really determined, to create a sustainable world for our future.”

One Earth set new benchmarks in energy efficiency not only in engineering and construction, but also in human and environmental sustainable site development; efficient water management, materials and resource selection, and indoor environmental innovation, claims the company.

Six Indian business leaders and Obama

Six Indians had a date with President Barack Obama during the recently held ‘Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship’ in Washington. The aim of the summit was to deepen ties between business leaders, foundations, and entrepreneurs in the United States and Muslim communities around the world, according to the White House press secretary.

Indian participants included Irfan Alam, founder of Patna-based Samman Foundation; Shahnaz Husain, CEO of Shahnaz Herbals; Kavil Ramachandran, Thomas Schmidheiny Chair Professor of Family Business and Wealth Management, Clinical Professor at Hyderabad-based Indian School of Business; Shaffi Mather, founder of Mumbai/ Kerala-based for-profit 1298 for Ambulance; Shaheen Mistri, founder of Akanksha Foundation, an NGO, and businessman Sirajuddin, who is also president of India Islamic Cultural Centre.

They joined nearly 300 participants from 40 countries and prominent Indian-Americans administrators like Farah Pandith, special representative to Muslim Communities, and Rashid Hussain, special envoy to the Organization for the Islamic countries.

Pammvi unveils intelligent lighting solutions

Pammvi Group of Companies, which provides energy conservation products for commercial and residential use, has launched a new series of occupancy and presence sensors for lighting control.

In contrast to motion sensors, these presence sensors detect “extremely fine movements” of seated occupants in places like laboratories, office cabins, classrooms, meeting rooms, sports halls, conference rooms and foyers. Sensors work with the help of digital technology to detect human movement patterns. While the fine detection area is good for 8 x 8 mt (64 sq mt), the maximum coverage range is 20 x 20 meters (400 sq mt). The maximum height of installation is 10 mt, says the company.

Huzaifa Khorakiwala makes a mark

Huzaifa Khorakiwala, CEO, Wockhardt Foundation, is aiming to launch YSR (Youth Social Responsibility) movement in the country. The scion of the Khorakiwala family seeks to promote the importance of human values in youth. He believes that YSR can help in creating social awakening in the country. He began with a lecture to 800 youth at D Y Patil College in Navi Mumbai recently.
